Choose Video Editing Software p.2

Ok! So let's continue with part two of how to choose the best video editing software for your needs. Video Transitions Watch a few movies and TV shows, notice this: The most common transition between shots is NO TRANSITION at all! It's a little thing we pros like to call a "cut!" Ok I am being sarcastic here but I hope you see where this is going. The main reason for creating a video in the first place is so that people can watch it... and when I say "it" I mean the video... not... Read full post here

Corel Video Studio Pro X4 Review The User Interface

The User Interface The existing user interface in Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 has not changed since the last version with the exception of the more flexible workspace feature. Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 had a pretty good interface to begin with and there wasn't really any need to go tinkering with it too much. It is important to note that this level of software these days is packing a pretty heavy load of features and functionality. The design of the interface has to provide access to all of these capabilities without... Read full post here

muvee Reveal X Review 2

Improvements in the New muvee Reveal X Version A lot of the information that I have run over in the introduction to this product is true whether you buy the muvee Reveal X or an earlier model. However, if you have ever tried an earlier model of this software, you should know how it has changed. According to the manufacturers, this version has better features, offers better control, and makes better movies. However, they are the manufacturers! They make money when you buy their software so of course they are going... Read full post here

Video Editing - Some Basics Part Two

A Little Hollywood Magic So what do you do if you want to communicate the sense of excitement that the kids are experiencing at the entrance to the zoo if you didn't get a shot of that? This is where the true sense of editing comes in. If we continue with our example of the zoo trip you will most likely find that you have a shot of the kids looking excited in a relatively close shot at least somewhere in all your footage. Because the shot is close the background will probably be unremarkable. So... Read full post here

Adobe Premiere Elements 10 Review 2

The Good and the Not So Good! Another awful feature that was a prominent flaw in both versions 8 and 9 is luckily avoided in Adobe Premiere Elements 10. Previous versions of this software were unable to de-interlace videos that had been shot in 1080p when they were exported as 720p videos. In versions 8 and 9, this bug made parts of the exported video appear like it had jagged lines running through it. I am happy to note that this glaring problem was fixed in version 10. Adobe Premiere Elements 10 has also... Read full post here

Getting Your Videos Online - Video Optimization Checklist

Because of the wide variation that can exist in video file types, video services, video content and the actual purpose of your video not all of these steps will apply to all people. I have tried to include as much as possible to make sure everyone is covered but really if a step doesn't make sense to you or to the purpose of your video just skip it. The checklist will be specific to uploading and optimizing on YouTube because it is the most popular site and offers the greatest ability to tailor your entry precisely. The... Read full post here

Cyberlink's latest version of MediaShow is Espresso 6.5. ScreenFlow Mac Video Editing Software

Well clearly the majority of video editing software on this site is aimed at Windows users and the reason for that is simple... I use Windows. I don't really feel comfortable recommending any software I can't personally check out myself so that pretty well puts any Mac programs out of the picture. I do however get a lot of queries regarding video editing software for Mac so rather than ignore the entire subject I thought I would at least include a couple of recommendations and ScreenFlow is one of them.... CyberLink PowerDirector 10 Review

Before IĀ get into the meat'n'potatoes of this latest release of CyberLink PowerDirector 10, allow me to set the scene a little here. In some of my other articles about choosing video editing software, one point I make is that you really should shy away from overly enthusiastic reviews and overly critical reviews. The overly enthusiastic are often lacking in credibility and the overly crtical are often critical for the sake of it and lacking in any real value. The reason I am mentioning this is that if you strictly... Read full post here
